Patti Samper is thrilled to announce patti*cakes, ltd., a couture cake company, fulfilling a long-time passion.

While living in Tribeca, New York City in the late nineties, Patti made the momentous decision to take a break from her fast-paced New York City lifestyle. Having enjoyed successful careers in the music, photography, and fashion industries, and now becoming a mother, Patti decided it was time to retire; time to travel, to raise her children, and even move out of the city to live in France. While in France she lived in a former vineyard, amidst the famous forest of Fontainebleau, close to Paris.

This wonderful new adventure afforded Patti the chance to experience the many diverse cuisines and cultures of Europe, South America, and North Africa. Patti took it all in, absorbing all its flavors, styles, techniques and colors.

After returning from Europe, Patti decided to apply to the French Culinary Institute (FCI) and — for her restaurant business concept — she was awarded a scholarship and to attend its career program in Pastry Arts. Patti graduated from the FCI (now called the International Culinary Institute) with honors in 2006.

While a student at the FCI, Patti met and assisted great chefs from around the world (from old-school legends to current-day gurus) in demonstrations at the school as well as other venues such as the Beard House. During this time, she also assisted the extraordinary pastry chef Michael Laiskonis, Executive Pastry Chef of the world-renowned restaurant, Le Bernardin.

Patti went on to execute her stage with chef Laiskonis at Le Bernardin, where she worked through 2007, always continuing to absorb and to learn all she could about pastry making. Ms. Samper enjoys the craft of the plated dessert tremendously and, after finishing her stage, she was offered opportunities to work in other top New York City restaurants as their pastry chef, however, Patti decided to pursue her current focus on the art of the cake.

While working at Le Bernardin, Patti started creating cakes out of her home for friends’ weddings and special occasions. They would rave about them, and those friends in-turn went on to tell two friends, and those friends told two friends, and so on. By the end of 2007, it was time to take her craft to the next step.

As a result, in March 2008, Patti launched patti*cakes, ltd. in synchrony with the completion of her new kitchen, where she enjoys passionately creating beautifully designed and incredibly delicious couture cakes inspired by various (and often intangible) aspects of life, art, music and nature.

Today, Patti's creations for patticakes, ltd. have been featured in numerous magazines and web-publications.

Patti Samper lives in Montclair, NJ with her family and their swissy called Daisy.
